Yoink
There’s just something so well formed and rounded about Yoink – the way it rolls off the tongue with a sharp almost smug termination, often accompanied by a wide grin! Yoink has been made famous by America’s First Family, The Simpsons! – In modern times Yoink has taken on a life of its own, from social media meme-acquisition acknowledgement to taking the last doughnut in the office! /yoink 😉
Yeet
This is brilliant! Yeet is your basic upgrade to Chuck…. You can chuck your FUBAR laptop, or it can be fucking yeeted! The other (lesser?) meaning of Yeet is for excitement. In this house, it’s to chuck/throw with exuberance and passion. Yeet almost always brings a smile – “My phone was going to explode, so it got yeeted!”
Yarp & Narp 💎
The genius duo of Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright made Hot Fuzz back in 2007 (seems ancient now!), and it was one of the funniest films of the decade! Lurch is a character in the film, played by Rory McCann. Lurch is rumoured only to utter two words, “Yarp” for yes, and “Narp” for no… What makes these special are the accent with which they must be spoken… If you’ve seen the movie, you can hear Yarp and Narp now, and if not – go watch the movie, you won’t regret it!
Motherfucker
The only way to say “motherfucker” is in the voice and intonations of Samuel L Jackson. This is famous to the same level as the Statue of Liberty, it’s truly an entry in the history books. The [Samuel L Jackson] Motherfucker spans generations, and is oh so satisfying in everything from a bare whisper to a building wide yell, motherfuckers.
Bint & Binch
This one is a little sexist (sorry, not sorry – it’s humour). Bint = Bitchy Woman, or bitch+, however it can take on a semi-affectionate intonation in the same way that goober/gooney can. Swear words are always difficult to pin down, as they’re often the seasoning in language as salt and pepper are to food. Nobody likes bland food 🙂 As defined in the article Spabbitisms… Expanding the language in all the wrong ways!, Binch is for when the insults Bitch and Bint fail individually, and both are required. Binch – A binty-bitch. Also Fucking binch, Binchbag… you can guess the rest…
Cunt & Fuck.
Cunt is everywhere these days, you can’t watch anything on TV upwards of a PG rating without the odd cunt slipping in, and as for Fuck… well that’s just salt to the language, and by language, I don’t mean it stops at English… Fuck is just about the most universal word in language… Love Fuck (sorry not sorry) 😉 There’s just a level of satisfaction with Cunt and Fuck which elevate the words, spoken and in literature, to heights “Oh gosh” can only dream of. Cunt has been used everywhere, from the already mentioned Simon Pegg movie, Hot Fuzz to the Amazon series, The Boys, by the character Billy Butcher – So funny 🙂 If you’ve not seen The Boys, go watch!
This concludes the article… and anyone who knows me will hear all of the above with astounding regularity, for my language is well seasoned as it should be!
